Visitors and Traders comments:
"...all the hard work that went into producing an excellent radio rally today. A good choice of traders and club stands made for a very enjoyable day..."
"...I was with the xxxx stand at the Telford Hamfest yesterday. I'd just like to say that we had a very enjoyable time there, and the various officials were particularly helpful and friendly..."
"...If only they were all as good as Telford. I was overwhelmed by the amount of SOTA chasers and activators that came over to say hello! Brilliant day, the rally was a credit to Amateur Radio..."
Telford & District A.R.S. are proud that the 6th Telford Hamfest is set to go ahead in September 2011. It is an alternative event, co-ordinated with the famous Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust’s Staff at Enginuity. We are also happy to add that we have managed to hold our 2011 prices at the same rate as the past four years. The opening time is 10:30 as usual.
For the first time, we have found space to introduce a small 'Flea Market' in the outdoor area. Tables will be available at just £9 each on a first-come-first served basis (one table per seller). An advance phone call to Martyn on 01952 255416 would be helpful.
Enginuity is a fantastic ‘Hands on Technology’ Centre, which invites visitors of all ages and interests to roll up their sleeves and get involved, with a special discount for all people attending the Hamfest.
The Committee and club at TDARS are working hard in preparation for another succesful event in 2011. This site offers more than just a traditional radio rally venue and we have developed a good reputation both for our exhibitors, but also the location and local attractions. The 2010 event saw us maintain the same visitor levels as previous years, testament to the quality of traders and venue. A guest speaker, Nick Miers, gave two talks about Code-breaking at Bletchley Park during WW11. This year we have another eminent speaker in September, who is Roger Stafford G4ROJ, describing his amazing work with kites as antenna sky-hooks - see the 'Special Features' page - which as usual is included in the admission price.
Even though the beautiful Ironbridge Gorge is a great attraction in its own right, we have the Enginuity technology site right next door and we have secured a 30% discounted admission price into this attraction.
It is just a few minutes (4 miles) journey south from the M54 (J6) at Telford and from other trunk roads.(Main parking Postcode TF8 7DU). See location tab for detailed directions.
We believe that there is a need for quality regional events like this to support the grass roots amateurs. we are very happy to be supported once again by you the Radio Amateur - Thankyou from all the Committee.
From feedback and given our experience in 2010, we would anticipate all available space will again be booked prior to the event. Our previous experience in organising radio rallies will ensure all arrangements will go smoothly and efficiently, and a good day will be had by all. |
